2022-2023 Art Show
"House Tree Person"
Welcome back to in-person. Welcome home, welcome nature, welcome to community. We are here and you are welcome here to view our students' artwork. We began with a simple idea, to draw a house, a tree, a person. Can you reproduce what you see, what you imagine, what you feel? With the basics of a box of crayons (oil pastels actually) and a big sheet of blank paper (multimedia) we sought to portrait iconic forms? Our practice was to “draw big”, I said. “Color bold”, I said, in Big Art one day. This monthly whole school art experience is just that, an experiential with art materials. Returning to this drawing for a second session, we then washed the background last with watercolors. Now our forms had atmosphere and attitude. Allure of the House/Tree/Person spread to Makers’ Group; a parallel whole school monthly OT building experience. There students patterned leaves to create a collaborative tree. The lattice and frame of a house was fashioned to house and honor photos of the artists, completing this triadic archetype. Spend time with each art piece, as each artist spent time in their art process. These pieces have vitality and their own personality. Contemplate questions about yourself. What do these drawings say to me? What does a house mean to me? A tree? A person? As a viewer, you are now in a projective relationship silently communicating with the subject in front of you. Your inner world, like the students, is being drawn upon. Therein is the formation of a mutual reality.
